MAUI STRONG

Friends of First Responders wishes to extend our heartfelt support of all our first responders on Maui who were involved in fighting this horrific fire that destroyed Lahaina and caused such a high number of lives lost. We believe thoroughly in the ability of the strong and resilient people of Maui to rebuild from the ashes but we also realize that there will be a long and hard road to recovery before that.

While it’s possible to report an accurate number of physical lives lost – it’s almost impossible to accurately measure the mental, emotional and spiritual toll on survivors of this tragic disaster. FoFR focuses our efforts on the mental health and wellness of our first responders who run toward the danger that others are running from.

With that in mind, we are in communication with first responders on Maui and stand ready to assist with trained teams to provide peer support as needed. In the meantime, we are supporting our first responders here who have been deploying to Maui to assist with search and recovery efforts there and the secondary trauma that they will be experiencing. Then there are the usual traumas of other events such as accidents and crimes that are still happening every day on our island. We want to make sure that as we reach out to Maui – we are caring well for our Big Island first responders.

This has hit us all very hard. Reach out to your tribe. Take care of yourselves. Take care of each other.

If you would like to donate towards our efforts to support our first responders impacted by this disaster… you can do so here….

MAHALO!
